Thank you for visiting our web site. We provide residential and
commercial COMFORT SYSTEMS for homes and buildings, and provide service
for existing systems to repair or upgrade them. Located near West
Branch, Michigan, our company has been helping our clients with their
heating, ventilation, air conditioning and hot water needs for over ten
years. We also offer commercial refrigeration installation for medium
and low temperature applications.
For new construction or retro-fit applications, we work
with you and your builder to provide design and build planning that
addresses your comfort requirements, while keeping the project costs in
line. We utilize the newest technologies that provide the best use
of energy including: Ground Source Geothermal, In Floor Radiant Heat,
and Hybrid Comfort Systems that use your available natural resources
(Wood & Corn), coupled with a backup method. Our forced air and
ventilation equipment uses the newest air filtration filters,
multi-stage capacity, and variable speed indoor fans that have become
the leading edge in comfort technology. Indoor air quality,
comfort, low sound generation, and low utility consumption are all
possible with these methods and equipment For example, we offer the ACCUCLEAN, from American Standard, an air filtration system that can
eliminate an astonishing 99.98% of allergens from the filtered air that
passes through it, and catches particles of dust, pollen and even
bacteria as small as .3 microns in size. This new technology was
recently introduced, and more information is available.

contractor of choice.

The traditional method of heating a building has always been a matter of heating the
surrounding air by a high potential heat source, which then counteracts
temperature loss through windows, ceilings and outside walls, which are part of
living in cold climate areas.
The ideal heat system is one where relative comfort is available at any
spot in the conditioned area at any given time, where fresh oxygenated
air is brought in to the building for the health of all breathing
creatures, especially people, and any stale air or odors are exhausted
to the outdoors. Additionally, air movement for the purpose of
filtration of dust and allergens, and mixing of air from the warmer near
the ceiling to the cooler at the floor, helps eliminate stratification,
thus keeping temperatures consistent top to bottom. A small child would
be as comfortable as a full grown adult.
Relative humidity (R.H.) has an
effect on body comfort due to evaporation of body perspiration. If the R.H.
is too low, the skin feels cooler because of continuous evaporation. As
R.H. approaches 60%, the skin of most people at 70*F is at its best
balance for comfort. The objective for any good air conditioning system
is to meet these conditions regardless of the weather outside, from the
frigid cold of winter to the sweltering heat of summer. Let us provide
just this kind of system for you!
Something to think about when selecting a furnace.

Split system air conditioning, where the indoor coil
is installed in the furnace or air handler, and the outdoor condensing
unit is located outside, is generally the installation of choice for a
forced air system. With a hot water system that has no ductwork, the
method may change, but comfort cooling is still available through the
use of mini split air conditioning. The air handler is small, quiet, and
hangs on the wall. Process piping, drain tubes, and control wiring pass
through the wall behind the indoor unit and are not seen from the
inside. These wall hung air handlers utilize a long, balanced blower
assembly that can deliver the air volume required while doing so quietly. Some air handlers are ceiling mounted, and there are
systems with two air handlers and only one outdoor condensing unit.
These mini splits also oscillate louvers up and down to create a
sweeping motion with the cool fresh indoor air, and are controlled by a
battery powered remote control for all functions including a timer.
Please contact us regarding your specific requirements.
American Standard and York split systems are offering "summer energy
efficiency ratings" or (s.e.e.r.) as high as 18. After much federal and
industry haggling over the years, it appears that the minimum s.e.e.r.
is 13, and this rating is usually enough for us here in
Michigan. Higher s.e.e.r. ratings are available, however, the equipment
will cost more and the number of weeks in use during a typical northern
summer is worth consideration. Other options available, are air to air
heat pumps, and ground source or water source heat pumps. These systems
provide heating and air conditioning with the same equipment and qualify
for a special electrical rate discount from the electric company. In
short, there are very many choices that can be implemented to match your
needs and your resources. We, of course, will be happy to install your
choice in this matter, and will discuss these options with you.

Hot
and chilled water has been used by mankind for ages. Today the challenge
is to utilize the fuel of choice and obtain the very best efficiencies
with that fuel. Whether you use natural gas, propane gas, or number 2
fuel oil, the technological combination of condensing gas boilers and in-floor radiant mass has transformed the industry to where maintaining the
indoor comfort temperature is possible with 97% of each fuel dollar
spent. With that percent of actual usable heat within the building, the
3% that comes out of the exhaust is cooler than the air from your
clothes dryer, and is also less moist. When the demand for hot water is
needed, this system can provide unlimited hot potable water for bath,
shower, or utility for approximately 94% of each fuel dollar. If you use
a hot water coil in your ductwork air handler, you will obtain a
percentage somewhere in between. As you can see, the fuel utilization is
what sets this technology apart from even brand new equipment sold
elsewhere.

With
TraingleTubes'
® revolutionary Prestige
boiler system, we can accommodate the spatial needs for your home. This
is an example of an install recently done by our company for a local client.
This Prestige model 110 boiler and SMART 40 water heater tank were installed on
a wall with under 5 1/2 feet of wall space. The entire system is self
contained in the space, along with the expansion tank for a typical country
style home with a submersible well.

The field consists of a one inch copper manifold which, in this case, feeds a
three zone field. Each zone has it's own independent pump for guaranteed maximum
heating capacity. A fourth, priority zone is dedicated to the SMART 40
Water Tank. This ensures you will always have hot water when it's needed.

All
of the Fields are run with Viega's revolutionary Fostapex along with copper
radiators. By using a pex material, we save countless hours over
traditional installations as preparation time is cut in half. The end
result is reducing the cost of labor to our clients, thus making the overall
install price dramatically lower.
All field wiring is done by a qualified professional from our company, and
most is self contained in a custom box mounted to the side of the boiler.
At Northern Michigan Mechanical, we take pride in keeping things as neat and
tidy as possible.

The
Prestige Boiler is 95% energy efficient, which saves on your heating bill.
Additionally, an outdoor sensor is available (Installed on this system),
that will further save on your heating bill, as it heats the boiler side water
according the the temperature outside. So there is no wasted heat when
your homes' comfort needs are satisfied.
Instead of traditional B-Vent type systems, we can now use normal
three inch
Schedule 40 PVC pipe to vent the boiler, also reducing the cost of
installation. In this picture, you can also see that we use a
concentric vent (Pipe in a pipe) so that we only had to drill one 4"
hole instead of two 3" holes.

We
take special pride in all of our work. We use only top of the line
products that have been industry proven, and guaranteed to work to your
specifications. With service after the sale, you can rest assured that
when the work is complete, you will always be able to get ahold of us if
you ever have any trouble. So, let
Northern Michigan Mechanical
LC help
you with all of your heating and cooling needs.
